Yard Force Robot Mower

Looking after your robotic lawnmower this winter

Nov 23, 2022

As the temperatures drop outside, it’s a good idea to make sure that your robot is kept safe from the elements this winter. Maintaining a healthy battery performance and cell life means that the mower will be ready to go right at the start of the next mowing season. Below is our recommended checklist to follow:

  • Clean your robot thoroughly

No need to use a pressure washer/ hose pipe, just a good amount of elbow grease using a small hard brush and a damp cloth will be good enough.

  • Fully charge the battery

Make sure the battery is at 100% this will help maintain the cells during the drop in temperatures.

  • Store in a dry place above 10°

If the battery is subjected to temperatures lower than 10°, this can have a detrimental effect on the electrical components meaning they may need replacing/changing sooner than necessary.

  • Check the battery level often

It’s worth checking on the battery levels of the mower once every 6 – 8 weeks whilst in storage and recharging if needed.

  • Move the docking station inside if the outside temp reaches below 10°

The docking station is robust, however, it is a good idea to move it inside once the weather turns frosty.

  • Protect the boundary wires

Once you have disconnected the boundary wire from the docking station, it is a good idea to protect them with vaseline or to wrap them in a bag or box. You can buy a box specifically designed for this purpose here: Gardena winter box link
